The Forest Quest Challenge: 6 Zones is an engaging, inclusive and action-packed adventure for secondary school students. Designed to promote teamwork, problem-solving and confidence-building, this outdoor experience is set in the beautiful surroundings of Killruddery Estate in our Giltspur Basecamp and is suitable for all fitness levels and abilities.
Over the course of 3.5 hours, students will rotate through six exciting activity zones - each one offering a unique challenge to inspire creativity, determination and collaboration. Whether it’s mental puzzles, survival skills or physical challenges, every participant will play a vital role in their team’s success.
With expert instructors on hand to motivate and guide, this is a school day out your students will remember for years to come.

Total Time Onsite: 3.5 hours
- Arrival & Check-In: Arrive 15 minutes before your start time to allow for parking, toilet breaks and organisation. It’s also a 15-minute walk to the Giltspur Basecamp activity area.
- Health & Safety Briefing: Instructor-led briefing to make sure everyone understands the plan, feels confident and is ready for action.
- The Challenge (2.5 hours): Rotate through the six exciting 25-minute activity zones listed below. Each activity is designed for all abilities, with expert instructors guiding and motivating students every step of the way. Teachers are welcome to join in too.

- Woodland Chill-Out (30 minutes): Unwind and celebrate in The Barn at Giltspur. Bring your own snacks/drinks to refuel before the 15-minute walk back to Basecamp.
- Buses can drive directly to the Alive Outside gate for drop-off and collection.
- Killruddery Estate has multiple entrances - ensure drivers follow signs for Alive Outside!

- Clothing:
- Tracksuit or sports kit (no jeans or good clothes!)
- Extra layers in cooler weather - baselayer recommended
- Footwear:
- Trail runners with grip or astro boots

- Change of clothes & shoes (you may get wet during activities
- Towel

Cancel Policy
- All participant numbers - including how many students will do the inclusive activities - must be confirmed at least 7 days before your trip to Alive Outside. This allows us to invoice your school and plan effectively.
- Once numbers are confirmed, we allocate staff and resources - including instructors, access to obstacles and facilities, and slots in our daily schedule. As we reserve capacity and turn away other school groups, last-minute cancellations or no-shows cannot be refunded.
- We do not offer “pay-on-the-day” options for School Tour bookings. Our operations rely on advance planning to ensure safety, quality and a smooth experience for every group.
- We operate rain or shine - dress for the Irish weather! If Met Éireann issues an orange weather warning, we will contact you to discuss alternative arrangements.
Check-In
- Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time
- Late arrivals may have reduced activity time due to scheduling constraints
- Parents of each student must have completed the digital waiver form - no form, no participation!
- Please advise instructors of any relevant medical conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, allergies)
- Students will receive a Health & Safety briefing before activities begin
- During activities, teachers are welcome to explore Killruddery Yard (Coffee Shop, Pizza Shed & Farm Shop), a short 5-minute walk away, but they must remain contactable at all times in case of any disciplinary matters or emergencies.
- Teachers are very welcome to join in the activities!
- This activity lasts 3.5 hours, including 30 mins for afterwards in our Woodland Hangout Zone.
- All activities have been fully risk-assessed by Alive Outside's Health & Safety consultant.
- Alive Outside is located on a working farm so, when they get home, all students should shower, change into fresh clothes and wash worn clothing thoroughly before reuse.
