Looking for a fun, exciting outdoor adventure close to Dublin? The Wild Wicklow Pursuit at the Alive Outside Adventure Centre in Killruddery is the perfect activity for anyone ready to take on a mix of challenges, have a laugh and enjoy the stunning Irish countryside.​

What is the Wild Wicklow Pursuit?

The Wild Wicklow Pursuit is a six zone challenge designed to test your skills, teamwork and sense of fun. You’ll take on a series of action-packed zones, each featuring unique challenges like Archery, Axe Throwing and Bushcraft Outdoor Survival Skills. It’s the ultimate way to try something new, push your limits and create amazing memories.

Each zone offers a mix of physical, mental and team building tasks, ensuring that every participant feels valued and involved.​

The Challenge Zones: a Glimpse into the Fun!  

  1. Axe Throwing: Unleash your inner warrior in a safe and controlled environment. This activity requires focus, coordination and a healthy dose of friendly competition.
  2. Archery: Master the art of archery under expert guidance. This classic activity promotes concentration, patience and a sense of accomplishment.
  3. Crack the Code: Put your team's problem-solving skills to the test. Series of mental challenges that require collaboration and critical thinking.
  4. Hang Tough / Backs Against the Wall: Inspired by Ireland's Fittest Family TV show, this zone features a series of physical obstacles where your strength and stamina will be tested.
  5. Floor is Lava: This hilarious activity requires agility, quick thinking and a healthy dose of laughter.
  6. Bushcraft: Learn essential outdoor survival skills like fire and shelter building while fostering resourcefulness and teamwork in the stunning setting of Killruddery Forest.

  • CLOTHING:
    • Wear a tracksuit or sports kit – leave the jeans and good clothes at home!
    • Layer up! A baselayer (e.g. Under Armour) under your top will keep you warm, especially in cold or wet weather.
  • FOOTWEAR:
    • Good shoes are a must – trail runners with grip are ideal, but astro boots work too.
  • ESSENTIALS:
    • Change of Clothes & Shoes – You will probably get wet or muddy (even without water activities). Bring dry gear for the trip home.
    • Towel – Handy for drying off after the challenge.
    • Light Rain Jacket – Stay prepared for the unpredictable weather.
    • Backpack – To keep your gear organised.
  • FOOD & DRINK:
    • Snacks or Packed Lunch – Refuel after the adventure.
    • Plenty of Water – Hydration is key!

ARRIVAL:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to allow time for parking and getting organised.
  • Plan extra travel time as the Bray area and especially Southern Cross Road can be busy at weekends.

WELCOME & ICE-BREAKERS:

  • Our friendly instructor will greet you at the entrance with a big smile and ensure everyone feels included from the start.
  • They’ll give a quick Health & Safety briefing and an overview of the day’s activities.
  • To get the fun started, there will be ice-breaker games during the 10-minute walk to Giltspur so you can mingle and get to know others.

TIMING & CHECK-IN:

  • Check-in begins promptly at your start time – don’t be late, or you might miss out on the fun!
  • Late arrivals will have reduced activity time due to scheduling constraints.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS:

  • You should bring all your gear with you to Giltspur where there will be a designated area available for you to leave your bags before the activities start.

HEALTH & SAFETY:

  • Hand sanitiser stations are available throughout the Adventure Centre – use them as needed.
  • If you have a medical condition, such as asthma, hay fever or diabetes, please inform the instructor before you start the activities.

WAIVER FORMS
Each participant will need a signed digital waiver. Follow the instructions in your confirmation email. For health and safety reasons, only those with completed waiver forms will be able to take part.

GRAB A COFFEE
During your visit, don’t miss a chance to stop by Killruddery Yard - just a quick 2-minute walk from our Adventure Centre. Open seven days a week, it offers something for everyone with its Coffee Shop, Pizza Shed, The Grain Store and Farm Shop. 

CHANGING FACILITIES
Our changing facilities are in keeping with our rustic, outdoor setting – think charming rural farm vibes! While they’re not luxurious, they’re practical, with basic wash-down areas to rinse your hands and space to change into warm, dry clothes after your adventure.

WHEN YOU GET HOME
Make sure you shower once you get back home. Wash all clothing thoroughly before wearing again.

All activities have been carefully reviewed by our Health and Safety consultants, with procedures in place to ensure a safe experience for both participants and instructors.
